Work in Progress

Sittin here thinkin that life is just a work in progress
That is.....
We succeed when we have the need
And we somehow take care of the folks
We feed....
Findin a job when we ought to
To pay the bills we never thought
Could disappear because of the monthly message
Totally total 'in arrears'...
And.
Even bein able to get those
Talked about , those touted , those
You must have and cant do without
Shouted about..Battered our ears about and
Caused us parents so many fears
If we don't come through with
The latest and the greatest and the
I'll be the only wild child who doesn't have the Fuzzy, Schmuzzy,
Floopy, Bloopy, absolutely super Poopie.........
 Whatever..what the hell........is that.........
Thing that does , everything, does nothing, says everything, says nothing
Uses a computer, is a computer.....Or just chills out on the livingroom couch..
But can be your best friend, teacher, mentor , lover, butler, cook or long
Lost Uncle Joe.....Not to mention the popular street corner 'hoe'....
And all of this for $39.95 or simple monthly payments of
Only $9.99......And not one cent moe!

Yes, we manage to succeed, to fill the ever important needs
And we are able to go on and on and on and on....
And maybe one day we wake up and say...
Hey, why am I working...Am I just jerking??
And maybe we think about..everything, including the kitchen sink
And we shout....What am I doing? Do I have a plan?
I have the means, but to what end, man?

We think about what is
Around the bend....

I want to call now and speak on this
With my best friend.........
